Hello Again

Its been a really long time since I last blogged. I have to admit, Tumblr is the blame. But I love Tumblr. I get to see so many beautiful things and things that I want to see. It's a really interesting site, and I enjoy looking through what people share.

And to have people like and reblog your posts... I have to be honest, it satisfies me. It makes me feel happy that someone appreciates what I share, or enjoys the same taste as me. I'm, in a way, addicted to Tumblr.

And I got to be frank, I'm only blogging now because I want to take a break from my studies. I've been taking a lot of "breaks", which is bad. I'm halfway through my finals and here I am, not taking things seriously enough. It tends to make me wonder if university is where I should be?

So many nice anime out there! Finally caught up with Sket Dance (when I should've been studying), and Polar Bear Cafe is as entertaining as ever! Sket Dance never fails to crack me up! Gosh, I wish the series will never end!

I definitely got to find some work soon. There's so many things to pay for! Russel Peters ticket, my cosplay costume, the new Thanatos figure that is coming out end of the month, PS Vita... I can't keep asking my parents to "sponsor" me.

Recently started playing a lot of games on PSP again, namely God Eater and Valkyria Chronicles 2, on top of my Persona 3 Portable.

On a side note, my reservist in May got cancelled! I'm not sure why, neither am I certain that it is a good thing. I wanted to clear my this year's reservist asap because if I were to cosplay in September, I would want my hair to be at the length I want, which is pretty long. And if I've reservist then, I'd need to cut my hair, and totally ruin my cosplay plans.

And, in a way, I'm glad I didn't think too much about whether us was possible. It makes life easier, and that's good :D

Happy New Year!

Well, I'm pretty sure this is my first post of the new year(shall check my blog later to confirm this)! And how did I spend the countdown? Relaxing in Bangkok! But honestly, I feel glad to be back in Singapore. If there's one thing I truly missed, it was the Singaporean girls. Singaporean girls look so much better than any other girls! I think the eyebrows of Thailand girls kinda affect their looks. I've seen some with rather thick eyebrows. Even saw a uni-brow.

Well, every new year that comes, there's a resolution right? Well, I haven't really put any thought into it, but I guess mine would be "to get a girlfriend". I know, it sounds stupid, and pathetic, but c'mon. 21 years old, and I never even had a Valentine's date. I told my friends that this year Valentine's we shall all have a date for Valentine's day, and apparently they already have a target they are making progress with. Me? Nothing.

In fact, I kind of feel tired to bother chasing any girl as of now. I'm tired of being the one who makes the first move, just to be turned down and have my spirits crushed. This time, I feel like being on the receiving end.

Moved the desktop out of my room! That has reduced my time spent on gaming by a lot! Which is good, as the new school term has started and I got to focus. I guess my time table is nice this time, since school is from Monday to Wednesday, with my weekend starting early on Thursday!

Oh, and I got an iPhone! Seriously, Singtel is bullshit. All Singtel outlets have their iPhones all sold out. One shop was even more anal; he said there is only stock, but only if you are buying it without contract. So basically, that douchebag just wanna get more money. So in the end I changed my line to an M1 student plan one, and I got a 64GB iPhone 4S! Don't forget my custom-made iPhone cover! Love how the cover turned out!

Because of the new year, many shows were not following their weekly release. So glad that the new anime episodes are coming out! Plus, new series to follow!

Persona 4 The Animation is as entertaining as ever. Now with the murder cases so-called done, the recent episodes focused on daily lives of the characters, which is a good break.

Been dying to see the next Guilty Crown episode, and I was so glad it came out! Finally we learn the past of Shuu and the Lost Christmas, plus a closure(?) to a story arc.

Bakuman season 2 continues! And each episode seems better than the last, and keeps me wanting for more!

Sket Dance is still going strong, and they started the year with my favourite chapter! The one with the fake Super Mario game! Hope this anime will air for a long time to come!

If you've watched Bakemonogatari, you'd want to catch Nisemonogatari! And the first episode was such a laugh! With the unique artwork and interesting characters, this anime has never fail to impress me and this first new episode looks rather promising! But why does Hitagi have short hair!!! D:

My only disappointment of new series Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou is that it's all short stories in an episode. Means there won't be any main storyline to follow. However, that is a rather minor thing because all the short stories are really humorous and entertaining!

Oh and yesterday I got stuck in the circle line. I wanted to take the train down to Dhoby Ghaut, and looking at the map, I assumed that if you wanted to take the train to Marina Bay, you'd need to change train at Promenade. I found it a bit odd that the map did not put a circle at the Promenade station, because they do that to stations like City Hall and Raffles Place where you can change trains. So I ended up at Marina Bay, and I took a train back to Promenade. And you know how the different line tends to be one level higher or lower? I went up the escalator, took the train, and realized only too late that the train was also going Marina Bay. Apparently that one track had alternating trains: one to Marina Bay and the next to Dhoby Ghaut. What kind of stupid joke is SMRT trying to pull??!! And it seems that I was not the only person who got onto the wrong train. A lot of people were in the same boat as me.

The Best Part

Half the December holiday has passed, and the best part has yet to come! Friday is the BBQ gathering for the usual gang, Sunday is Christmas family gathering, Monday is my accountancy group Christmas gift exchange, Tuesday is dueling, Wednesday is BANGKOK! Woots!

First semester results out? Whatever. Not like seeing it will change anything. Well, except my mood. So why check? Enjoy!

Gonna get iPhone 4S next month, and I'm so going for the black 64GB one! Excited!

The blue of my hair is getting lighter. Noooooooooo!

As for the Weiss Schwarz card game, I'm so loving it! And I realize there are some super rare cards, and ther's one I'm dying to get! Although the chances of finding anyone selling it is rather low...

And what anime am I catching this season? Thought I'd update a bit on that!

1. Persona 4 The Animation
Honestly, the only reason why I decided to watch it was because of the awesome Persona 3 game. And the anime is pretty good. Gonna wait for the PS Vita version of the game to be released!

2. Bakemonogatari
I watched this because my friend uses a Weiss Schwarz deck involving this anime. And I have to admit, it is quite a different anime from the usual, and it's quite interesting! It's pretty old already though.

Persona 4 Anime

Well, I've just watched the first episode of the long-awaited Persona 4 anime, and I must say, it's not bad. I've never played the game, although I heard that the ratings were really high. I was first introduced to the Persona series when I tried out Persona 3 Portable on PSP, and I fell in love with that game almost immediately. I was hooked to it and... wait. I'm getting off-track. Point is, because of that awesome game, I decided to wait and see how Persona 4 would be like. Unfortunately, Persona 4 was only for PS3 and Xbox(?). In fact, only P3P was released for PSP at that time (there's Persona 2: Innocent Sin now).

Back to the topic. I see the familiar Igor and the Velvet Room, and the music used in the anime reminds me of the ones I hear when I play P3P. Really brings me back to the old times... The episode is rather fast-paced, but it's still okay. And I think the protagonist's  persona is kinda cooler looking than the one from Persona 3. This anime looks promising, and I can't wait for episode two! If you know nuts about the Persona series, you may feel a bit lost when watching this first episode. But watch a couple more, and maybe read up a bit, and you'll enjoy this anime!

Biz Law mid-terms next Monday. So screwed!!! Bet I'll get lowest in class!

There was presentation today for Management Communications, and each student is suppose to present on the powerpoint slide they are assigned to. I only went to open mine to prepare half an hour before the lesson, so yea... procrastination FTW! haha Managed to smoke my way through!

Wanted to go toilet from the library, and got stopped by this lady. I thought she was a student, but she said "youngsters these days" so I assume she's old? Anyway, she approached me and said she was going to have bible studies in the evening. I thought I heard wrongly and asked her to repeat. I mean, what stranger will suddenly approach you and announce that he or she is going for bible studies? Super random! She repeated herself, and I confirmed that I did hear correctly. And, how am I suppose to reply to such a statement? Simple. "So?"

Then she asked if I could join in, asked if I believe in God and read the bible, saying youngsters these days have so much troubles... all with that crazy eyes gleaming in worship. I swear, my face was showing two different things: 1)I thought that this was seriously ridiculous and 2)I couldn't be bothered. So I was trying to look interested, yet I was grinning at how lame this was. I wonder what my resulting facial expression was. Anyway, I quickly shook her off because I really, really needed to take a dump. Talk about divine intervention.

Stupid 80-year-old man. I can come up with 20 replies to shoot you down. Like, "At least I'll still be around in 20 years".haha

DJ-ing was quite sad, because someone went to take the equipment, so we couldn't practice for our graduation performance. Speaking of which, I better let my friends know!haha

I still think of her, actually. The back of several girls remind me of her, and a small part of me feels sad. But I need to be strong and confident, never falter!

Recently went to catch up with Hanasaku Iroha, and I got to say, I'm enjoying it! And to fall in love... sigh! And Tiger&Bunny has ended! So sad! Waiting for season 2!

And So It Begins...

...school, that is. Tomorrow is the start of my first year in university! From year 0 to a year 1 student! I guess I'm too used to the crammed courses in special term, so I'm expecting the courses to shift into full throttle within the first week. I hope I get a shock and realize that mods in the usual term is at a slower pace!

A lot of my friends are already mugging, but I guess they've got the SMUgger thing in them. Either that or kiasu-ism. I heard that my batch of students overbid on the mods, which kind of indicates that for my batch, there are a lot of really hardcore muggers. The bell curve is now the least of my worries; the biggest problem is being surrounded by crazy geeks!

I also need to mentally prepare myself for a crowded school. During my special term, the school was relatively empty and peaceful, but from what I've been hearing, all hell breaks loose during the school terms. The library will no longer be the best place to study :(

Totally not prepared for tomorrow's lesson, but at least I'll see a familiar face there! :)

Caught up with some anime I've been watching but halted due to camps and friends. Sket Dance is as random and funny as usual, and Usagi Drop is one that I want to see to the end. I'm waiting for Persona 4 anime to come out!

Dragon Age 2 just keeps getting better! Unfortunately, I get really pissed when the big spiders fall down from the ceiling. They always scare me. Disgusting freaks. And what's worse is the big boss spider drops down on my team... yucks.

I tried The Witcher, and I honestly do not like the combat. All I need is to left-click my mouse to kill the enemy. Maybe it is because the game is quite old, and they grew wiser for Witcher 2. But I don't plan to really play that game.

STGCC is this weekend! I can't wait!!!

I wonder what CCA I should join. I feel like joining photography, or rock climbing, or fencing, or the band one. Maybe the lifeguard one. Damn! What should I choose?!

Went to download a lot of new clubbing songs, and nearly changed my entire blog design. Unfortunately, the picture I wanted to use as background was too big in terms of size, so I decided to forget about it. But I added the songs to my Mixpod on the blog!

Full Throttle

Okay, I'll take some time to blog my weekend!

Saturday was an iConserve meeting, where we get to meet some of the freshmen who decided to join our project! I for one did not expect us to be playing games, and I felt a bit lazy and some sense of dread(?) of playing ice-breaking games. Yet I somehow got so involved in the games I just got carried away and had a lot of fun! Even though I got my nice shirt dirty with camo cream, I definitely enjoyed the entire session!

Sunday was newspaper collection at Teck Whye, which is all the way at Choa Chu Kang area! Sure, it's far, but bus 966 made it convenient. Quite a lot of interesting things happened during the collection. There was one unit which was empty when I peeked through the window. The door itself looked so run-down, I should've guessed that nobody stayed there. But the horrible part was when I looked in, I saw what looked like stains on the floor inside. Took me a while to realize that those "stains" were actually dead cockroaches! And there were so many! Really disturbing sight. At one block I stumbled upon a very young couple(they were younger than me) cuddling and what-not at the staircase. I intentionally walk past them just to interrupt their lovey-dovey time. Evil me.haha Walked around until my legs were at the brink of giving way. It was tiring, but rather fulfilling!

Yesterday I went to school to study and help to roll the newspapers for our large newspaper house! I got a sudden idea about making a video, and decided to work on it yesterday evening. The thing is, there will be CSP talks today and tomorrow, so I wanted the video up by last night to be shown today. So I spent around 5 hours to complete the video(technically I waited around an hour just to get the photos). I recently started watching an anime called Usagi Drop, which turns out to originally be a manga. In fact a movie adaptation is coming out this year based on the manga. Before you all scream "chibi" and what-not, let me say that I'm watching it because it's simply magnificent. The storyline is rather simple yet interesting, and the characters behave in ways you can relate to in real life. The visual of the anime is drawn and colored rather nicely too. I can see why they want to make this into a real life movie, even though all I've watched is one episode. It looks like a very plain yet heartwarming anime.

X-men Anime Review

The X-men anime aired it's last episode some time back, and I watched it as soon as it was up, but I was unable (or too lazy) to find the time to give my review of this series. So here I am now, writing a review of this 13-episode series.

I'll start off with the last episode itself. Yui Sasaki's and Professor X's son goes rampage, turning the world to chaos. And before him stands the X-men, who tries to go on the offensive but get their asses kicked quite bad. As I kind of feared and suspected, Hisako, the new member, is the one that saves the day. Rather typical way to go, if you ask me.

One thing I liked about the episode was the cameo appearance of several other X-men, like Colossus and Archangel. Although Nightcrawler's hair is quite exaggerated in my opinion. There was even an Iron Man appearance, despite that boring first episode I saw. The battle was mostly some mind battle between Professor X and his son, which is not exactly action-packed. However, I liked the ending, mostly because Cyclops has opened up to Emma Frost. Notice how he didn't mind her calling him "Scott", even though he coldly told her to call him "Cyclops" nearly 6 episodes ago.

Of course, what better way to end the episode and the series with a cliffhanger? At the ending, we see a destroyed prison cell, that was so obviously keeping Magneto. Sounds like there will be season 2? As much as I'd love it, I highly doubt it.

Overall, the series was rather... average. It would probably score lower for a non-X-men fan. I'll first list down the cons. For one, why create some lady called Yui Sasaki who is a professor helping mutants, falls in love with Professor X, and have some powerful mutant kid with him? Sounds A LOT like Moira MacTaggart from the comics. Why not just use her name? The story gets rather dull, to me, when the X-men visit her facility, and there is a lot of unnecessary running around and fighting the mutated assistants. The bad guys in the show are also new, but nothing colorful or interesting about them, which is rather boring.

Now, if they threw in the Juggernaut, I believe ratings would have soared. Speaking of Juggernaut, it's quite irritating how the credits at the end misleads viewers. They show villains like Juggernaut, Magneto and Stryfe, despite them not appearing in the series. I mean, what gives?

The plot is not exactly rather complex either. Mastermind is not exactly some cool villain to see X-men clash with. Another thing is how Hisako is the main focus at the final battle. Sure, the rest of the X-men have some screen time, but mostly it's about Hisako. To me, that's quite boring.

Now for the good points. When I saw the first episode, I thought that the entire series would have the X-men clad in their comic-version costumes. I was very wrong. But their costumes did not really disappoint. Kind of a mix between the Astonishing and New X-men costumes. I like the line-up too. It's almost the Astonishing X-men line-up, with the lack of Shadowcat and Colossus. But it does not really matter, since I doubt there would be enough time to look into more characters, and they would end up as calefare. I'm glad that for once, a X-men show moves to when Jean Grey dies and Emma Frost comes into Cyclops' life. I was looking forward to more of the relationship of the two, but there was little mention on that. There is, however, hints of the relationship between the two improving, so I guess that will do.

And the characters in this anime look pretty good. I like Cyclops, of course, but the most amazing one has to be Storm. Never in animation have I seen a Storm that looks really good and sexy. I'm not sure what you guys are looking at in the picture, but I'm looking at her face. It's really well drawn! And there isn't those "anime/manga eyes" on her, or any characters in fact. Which is good. Also, the Wolverine is done correctly in this anime. The one done in the previous anime Wolverine looks too tall and skinny to be him. At least this one stays true to the comics. Despite my complaint about the plot, it was rather okay as a whole.

As much as I enjoyed this anime, I doubt I'd look at the next one, Blade. Don't really follow that vampire hunter dude. Didn't even watch the film trilogy. Why didn't they do a Spider-man anime?

We Still Don't Know the Name of the Flower We Saw That Day

I've just watched the last episode of Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai, translated as "We Still Don't Know the Name of the Flower We Saw That Day", or AnoHana in short. I expected it to end after 13 episodes, which is usually the number of episodes on season of an anime. So when I downloaded episode 11 and saw the word "Final" on the title, I was pretty shocked.

After the cliffhanger of the previous episode, I expected 3 episodes to cover Menma's true wish before she can move on to Heaven. However, they managed to put it into one episode, which is quite a good move. The last episode was filled with emotions and truths, and saying goodbye to a childhood friend is rather sad yet touching, so I admit, I did tear up seeing the characters opening up to each other like that. And when everyone could finally see Menma before she moved on was just so touching...

In a whole, this anime was rather good. Sure, it was not exactly slice of life or comedy kind, which is my usual preference in anime, but I like the story and how the characters feel so realistic that we can relate to. And even though I knew that the ending would be a tearjerker, I could not stop myself from, well, getting my tears jerked (okay that sounded a bit wrong). I love AnoHana, as in the anime. I never say I love the character.haha

Goodbye, Menma

X-men Anime Episode 5

Finally, episode 5 of the X-men anime is out! And it's about time Emma Frost dons her X-men costume. Was getting quite tired of seeing her wearing that same attire the last couple of episodes. The episode is kind of laid back compared to the previous episodes, such that there is no serious plot here, nor any danger and stuff. It focuses on Hisako's training, and we get a look at Emma's past. Hisako in the anime, I must say, is rather a crybaby compared to the one introduced in Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-men. The anime seemed to changed some characters, in fact. Emma Frost I expected a cold, classy woman with snappy remarks, but the anime potrays her as a caring, soft teacher. I mean, sure, that shows how much she loves teaching but I could use some coldness from her. Still, this anime has yet to disappoint. In fact, I'm quite amused that Wolverine made a joke of sort. I find Emma's costume average, considering how much sexier the outfits her comics counterpart are. Hisako's uniform is new too, to deviate from her comic counterpart. Judging from the preview, next episode will throw the team back into the main plot.
