Early Bird

Watched Thor with the guys yesterday! Not before going for my last driving lesson before my upcoming driving test on Tuesday. Man, even at the last lesson I still screwed up a little. How? Anyway I told myself no point panicking; not like it helps. I've studies to worry about too.

Thor was okay, I guess. Maybe it's because I don't actually keep track of Thor in comics. But overall the movie was quite good, although I found the sound effect for Destroyer's face beam rather loud and painful to the ears. And the outfit is rather weird. The top half of Thor's armor is so nice, but the bottom is just...pants. I mean, I was hoping that they'd put a little more effort with the bottom half too.LOL Good cameo of Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye. Turns out that weird cube is the Cosmic Cube, although I never heard of it in comics.

After movie Jeff and Rosh went home, while the rest of us(CR, Kenny, Jokhie and me) played lan! We ordered the "Buy 4 get 1 free" drinks, all Coke. Too bad we did not get to play L4D. Jokhie fell asleep during CoH! LOL And it's the first time we ever played till the lan shop's closing time.

Jokhie left after lan while the 3 of us went to McDonalds' for breakfast. Talked a bit of nonsense, with the damn old songs playing in McDonalds' before heading home.

Basically I slept at 7am and woke up at 10am. Then I started studying and KO-ed in the afternoon. Now to continue!

Sometimes I wish I had a couple of friends who likes comics and stuff like me, then we can really chat about all of it. Sucks to have nobody to discuss my comics stuff with.

Well, maybe you can trust them.
Just the degree of the trust.

Laptop Love

Well, today is officially the first day I used my laptop! Quite cool to use it in school, with internet. And sitting in a lecture room, wearing your own clothes, with the professor lecturing and you in front of your laptop taking down notes and listening(most of the time), it's pretty cool. Kinda like how you see in those movies.

Maybe university isn't so bad, huh? The week's past, and so has the "shock" from university life. Maybe  life will be interesting this next four years! I know it's going to be tough, but I don't plan to back down just yet!

It's Here!

F**king Jokes

Here's the story. Last Sunday, I ordered my laptop from SMU, since it was cheaper and has the whatever crap that let's you use the laptop in SMU. They sent a confirmation mail to my SMU account telling me that my order was received and that they will contact me when ready.

Okay. So I waited. And waited. Until yesterday, I decided to send an email enquiring about my laptop. Today I planned to call them, but they beat me to it. They called me and informed me that the model I ordered was out of stock and they did not plan to re-stock since they were preparing for the new models for June/July offers. The guy on the phone asked if I wanted another model in the SMU offers, which I said no. If I wanted that particular model I would have ordered that right? Asshole.

They know there was no more stock, but during the past 8-9 days they did not contact me. Imagine if I did not send an email yesterday. I'd probably be still waiting for my laptop when I finish year 1. Seriously, what kind of fucked up losers run the company?

Fuck them. I'm getting my own laptop. Then I'll send it to SMU to put in the necessary programs. Fuck their laptop offers. Fpos.

Uni Blues

Well, today was the first lesson in SMU, and boy was it demoralising.

First of all, no pretty girls! What a bummer.

Secondly, the amount of knowledge thrown at me is rather intimidating! The learning curve is so steep, and I learn that I got two assignments I need to have ready with my group in two weeks time. Wow.

Suddenly, I feel like dropping out. But maybe I'm just having some shock, and given time I can adapt. One thing I can say for sure is this: university life is not going to be a breeze.

Wish I have my laptop. Will make studying much better.

You know how I said I wanted to get a girlfriend in university and enjoy life? I was a foolish boy. Time to wake up. I no longer have the mood to find a girl.

Long Time No Blog

Since I've finally drawn finish the cover for my [CR] Productions! book, I thought I'd take some time to blog. This book will compile all the 100 comics I've drawn so far on computer, and will include profiles of all the characters! Hopefully this pdf file will make [CR] Productions! more popular!

School starts today! Huge bummer. Plus, SMU has not contacted me about my laptop. Looks like I'm going to survive on just pen and paper. I've not been writing stuff for so long, I think my handwriting has gone haywire. Ah well...

I've been trying to learn this program called MikuMikuDance, which is used to create 3D animations  like the ones from Hatsune Miku! You can even make K-On! animation! Really cool stuff. Makes me kind of regret taking accountancy in university...

"Nyan Cat" is so addictive! Damn...

Oh, this is kind of late, but last Wednesday we performed at Jokhie's brother's girlfriend's 21st birthday. Technically it's my ex-band; I was back-up bassist. The day kinda went the wrong way, with wrong date, wrong place, etc. Sure, we were kind of frustrated but seeing Jokhie's brother look so stressed over the preparations and Jokhie working so hard to finish the video we decided to let it pass. I call it the "puppy eyes" effect. You want to be so mad at something or someone, but seeing the situation they're in, you just feel sorry for them.LOL

Downloaded the whole Amazing Spider-man and X-men comics! Finally! 400+ issues to read!

I was reading some material related to my SMU special term and I realized that the person who wrote it was really good. Every sentence inside was useful information. It's like the writer did not waste time on extra details; only shooting all the knowledge to you. Rather impressive, yet intimidating. Am I to write essays as amazing as this? To do so I would need good writing skills, wide vocabulary and of course a lot of general knowledge. SHIT!

Counting down!

Anime Report!

I know I should blog about my past few days, considering it's been some time since I've blogged, and I do have quite a bit to blog about, but I want to blog about anime first! Heh.

Here's my current view of the anime series I'm watching as of now:

Hoshizora e Kakaru Hoshi
So far this anime proves to be quite normal, with a main guy moving into this small town, go to school, meet girls... just plain everyday stuff. Which I honestly do not mind. There's no outstanding plot or anything, yet it's interesting enough to keep me watching.

The World Only God Knows 2
I think this anime is to make gamers look cool? Nah. I've not watched the first season, so this thing about the spirits or whatever is new to me. Yet I kind of get what this anime is about, and to see them fumble around is rather entertaining.

Tiger&Bunny
I like the superhero concept, I like the outfits, I like the storyline in this anime. There's a balance of seriousness and comedy here, and seeing Tiger and Bunny butting heads at each other is hilarious.

A-Channel
This anime reminds me of K-On!, where there is no general storyline, just slice of life kind of anime. Even the clumsy main character reminds me of Yui from K-On! I did not really find the first episode that fantastic, but it kind of grow on you. Plus, the opening theme sounds nice.

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai
This particular anime gets to me. It's nice, really nice, but the fact that the girl is actually a ghost/hallucination is rather sad. So no matter how much I enjoy this anime, there's this small part of me feeling sad for the girl. I heard that the director enjoys doing melodramas, and I like how he manages to pull it off. It makes me think of Myself;Yourself, somehow.

Gosick
Well, it's halfway through the season and I still haven't been disappointed by this anime. Not much to say about it.

Hidan no Aria
Hmmm... this anime is quite okay. It has not gone to anything serious,plot-wise, and the episodes are good enough. It's too early to judge whether this anime is good yet!

Sket Dance
The anime pleases as good as the manga. It carries over the stupid, hilarious atmosphere the manga conveys. Despite knowing the story from reading the manga, the anime doesn't seem to disappoint. Love seeing their funny expressions!

Hanasaku Iroha
Ah... this anime has been one of the more highly anticipated ones, and I can see why. It really hooks you and reel you in, making you want to watch more. The story and characters are entertaining, and at least it does not look like it'll have some dark plot in future...I hope.

*********************************************
That's all I have for now. And I should really start blogging about usual stuff other than anime.LOL

Too bad she doesn't know how to put songs in.

Ta-da!

Today was jamming, which was fine...except we found out that the performance is on Wednesday and not Thursday! Talk about panic! Fortunately, we are somewhat ready for it...

I found these funny comics, 4KOMA, online.lol

Gonna sleep now! Damn tired! Goodnight!

Feeling Special?

Darn flies flying around my room light... had to off my light and monitor to chase them out.LOL

Spent the whole day jamming, preparing for tomorrow's jamming session. But I kept replaying the songs that I'm quite sick off them...

It's quite funny how people only notice and appreciate Neon Trees now. Their album came out a year ago, and I "obtained" the album once it was out. Really, their songs are rather catchy and nice. But it's only recently that the radio starts playing more of their songs, like "1983" and "Your Surrender". I'm glad people finally hear their awesome music, but a little part of me kind of miss the time when they were less...popular, when their music was considered "underground". I have friends who like bands because they are not well-known, and feel quite sad when the bands become well-known. I used to wonder why and how people could feel that way, but I guess I'm feeling it now. It's not that you don't want the band to make it big, but while they were less popular, it felt more...special(?) I guess.

Frustrating. So damn frustrating!

This picture is from Katekyo Hitman Reborn, though never heard of it. What a sweet pic! Wish I could draw like that...

The same artist drew one for Bleach... seems he and many others like this couple. I don't really care about that, but I just like how this picture is done.

I can’t take it, take it, take no more
Never felt like, felt like this before
Come on get me, get me on the floor
DJ what you, what you waiting for?

~ Britney Spears - Till The World Ends
Well, I thought I'd put some pages of Sket Dance here to show you all the manga. It's the chapter of the console game, which is one of the funnier chapters. I swear, Sket Dance is the only manga that has ever been able to make me laugh out loud!

Tiring Weekend

It's been quite a while since I last blogged, but I've been busy this whole weekend! Let's start from Friday!

I was woken up by a call from CR in the morning, who asked me to help perform for the gig on this coming Thursday. There was jamming that afternoon, so I quickly tried to figure out the bass tabs for as many songs as I could. It's the first time I'll ever perform, so I'm feeling a bit nervous.

Basically, yesterday and today was mostly about jamming too. But I slept so little the past few nights that today I'm feeling rather exhausted. Had driving yesterday, and it rained quite heavily. I don't like driving in the rain. It somewhat reduces your senses when you drive. Hope it does not rain during my test. Oh, and I manage to get driving lesson slots on dates nearer to my test date! Thank you whoever who gave up those slots!

Today was retrieving the box drum and some stuff from CR's uncle's place, where all his family's stuff are temporarily placed until they move into their new house. Darren gave us a ride, and we ate before going to the house. Took us quite some time to find the stuff, and it would have way longer if I did not point out to CR the box drum... Swimming in the afternoon (Kenny and Jeff gave in to the temptation and chose to swim instead of gym) and jamming after that.

Ordered my laptop today! Please, don't tell me that white is sold out and end up giving me pink. Please don't!

Oh, so sleepy.

Battle Royale

I recently started reading a manga called Battle Royale, which is quite interesting. However, it's not some funny, happy manga like Sket Dance. This one is more of some thriller, with lots of gore and blood. Basically, in a corrupted Japan, a class of students would be kidnapped and placed on an island. "Kill or be killed". Last one standing would walk home free. It sounds like your typical plot but the manga is really, really intense. Not for the faint-hearted.
In fact, there is also a live movie of it, although I do not intend to watch it. Seeing all the gore in manga is quite bad already; I doubt I can take it in real life.

Happy Me!

Guess who got Robot Masters:G1 Convoy! Rarest of all Optimus Prime toys and probably the most cartoon-accurate!  Woots!

Fyi, in Japan Optimus Prime is called "Convoy".

Auto

Wow! Driving an automated car is way easier than a manual car. I swear I was smiling happily just now while driving it!

Today was my auto lesson. Even as a learner doing manual driving lessons, I must have 1 auto lesson. And my lesson was from 8:40pm to 10:20pm. Rather late timing. Thank God I was not crazy enough to book anymore lessons at around this timing. Auto cars are much simpler to drive. I do not have to worry about engine stalling, nor must I change gear when moving off or while on the move. The thing I enjoyed most while on the road was the fast and easy acceleration when moving off junctions. All I had to do was press the accelerator pedal and zoom! Off I go! I think the instructor thought I had some speed fetish, because I was speeding (within the limit) like crazy. And I notice taxi drivers tend to not signal when they want to change lane.

Blogging is dying. Just look at the graph on the left of my blog! Unless that graph is fake...

We don't care who's wrong and who's right.

Like It's Your (3rd) Birthday

I'm not sure am I slow, but today I found out that The 3rd Birthday is finally out in English. The 3rd Birthday is a PSP game, which seems to have been highly anticipated. I've only just started playing it, so I don't know much. All I know is you control Aya Brea, sending your soul back to the past and check out the "Babels", or something. Basically, some alien stuff appeared in the world and slaughtered people. Considering how I'm suddenly thrown into the story, I cannot be blamed for feeling a bit lost.
Like I mentioned, the game throws you into the action pretty fast. You see a small cutscene of the aliens emerging on Christmas, people getting killed... and you see Aya Brea, the main character, getting ready to send her soul back to the past to investigate this incident. You are capable of jumping from soul to soul, taking over any person's body while in the past.
The gameplay reminds me of Valkyria Chronicles and Metal Gear Solid. The former because of how you can control the troops and position them during clashes to your advantage; the latter because it's third-person yet has first-person view when using weapons. Now, I'm not a big fan of FPS games on consoles, but because this game automatically locks onto the enemy, I'll let it pass. You can buy a lot of weapons, it seems, but you have to unlock them. Plus, you can upgrade your weapons.
The graphics are really good. In fact,it reminds me of Final Fantasy. The Japanese are really impressive people.

I also finally patched Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai Portable to play! It's funny when the start of the game is a video of the gameplay of God Eater. When I first saw it I thought I could play around, which I actually could not. I was wondering what the video was for then, when I saw the players names. "Kyosuke", "S. Vageena" and "BLACK CAT", and I knew that it was them. Turns out it was a video of them playing God Eater together, which was rather hilarious. Kyosuke's character was down, but the other two were engrossed in fighting the boss. He keeps calling out to them to revive him before the timer is up, but they seem to ignore him. Saori tries to revive him at the last second, but it was too late.LOL

Sket Dance manga is really good! It keeps the plots to 1-2 chapters, and it is funny in almost every panel! Too bad the anime only picks certain chapters out of the 100+ chapters of the manga. That's freaking a lot! Amazing! And the anime has only aired one episode...
